Jaspersoft Communications
Hello, we have released Jaspersoft Studio 6.21.1 with a modified BSD-type license that is limited to binary code use. As such, we are no longer able to host this as a free download on open-source software sites and have retired earlier versions. Jaspersoft Studio is backwards compatible and allows a user to export prior work. If you have any issues moving your work to the latest edition, please post to our forum and we will do our best to assist you. Jaspersoft Studio community edition is still free, allowing users to continue with your developments with the latest installer. This project is very active, our Jaspersoft team will continue to contribute to this project moving forward. unmak1
Too risky for an end-user for my MIT project, that has to build a report. That is the BCL license, the same Oracle used back in the day for its Java SE ( Java 8?) I think I will switch to another library, thanks anyway. We have bundled JasperReports version 6.2.1 into our core business product and can currently not upgrade this as there is always a risk of conflicting libraries. As of now it's impossible for developers or customers to develop reports using JasperSoft Studio 6.2.1 as the software is unavailable. Using a more recent version of JasperSoft Studio like 6.21.1 is no option as reports developed with this version will not run against the bundled 6.2.1 version. For most of our customers it's also not possible to install the software using an executable, hence the need of the installation using the ZIP-file. We have been using the Jasper software for about 15 years now (since iReports) and it would be a pity if we would have to look for a different reporting tool as this would mean a lot of work to integrate this with out core business product.
Giulio Toffoli
Hi Dila, thank you for your message. You can use the latest version of Jaspersoft Studio to create jrxml compatible with any version of JasperReports. To be sure that the produced jrxml will work with your specific JasperReports version, set the Jaspersoft Studio compatibility from the Preferences: About the zip version of Jaspersoft Studio CE 6.21.1, this is definitively something we can provide in the set of available downloads. Hope this helps Giulio

We use the same library 6.2.1, but Compatibility settings is not sufficient, because we also need to precomile and deploy subreports in contrast to main reports. Older compiler versions are not possible to installt due to different bugs (6.20.6). Therefor we and out customers can only use studio 6.2.1. We also need the zip version to install maven plugin and distribute preconfigured studio.
Jaspersoft Communications
@franky4 We provide a free download of the latest version on our community site and are unable to provide previous installers. A commerical edition license provides access to the source code, you can take a free trial to experience the added features and functionality here. Jaspersoft Communications
Hello @JorgeMartin Jaspersoft Studio is no longer open source but freely available as binaries. JasperReports Library is open source LGPL.
paradigm
@Michelle R As it's freely availably, why are the downloads hidden behind a login? How are we supposed to bundle the software for Linux distributions like NixOS which need ELF patching? The installer won't work here and the software would be unusable.
dila
Apparently it's impossible to download JasperSoft Studio 6.21.3 and 7.0.0. When navigating to the download page nothing happens, you only get the change log but no download link or popup...

andrew_50
Well, TIBCO/JasperSoft are trying very hard to get people to play the commercial version game The older versions of Studio, did allow source downloads. Sadly very few people did do that, or keep copies of the old version installers around. But... we're in the modern world of change the license, remove the old versions, give us money. That and the older versions of Studio were (imho) more stable than the current version I hope they don't crash and burn as a company, their products were great.
jonc
@Jaspersoft Communications I've filled in my profile info, but I still end up on the Prohibited List. Why has the download for Studio so hard to get past?
Jaspersoft Communications
@jonc Your account was flagged by our automatic screening tool in accordance with Jaspersoft's global trade policy. There is a link on the download pages just below the "access is denied" message to "Learn more". This link brings you to a page explaining various reasons why a user's access to downloading product files might be held for review, as well as how to request that your account be reviewed if you believe you received this message in error. It made the report-designer laggy and buggy; as well as having some really unexpected UI interactions that comes with dealing with Eclipse widgets. The Eclipse-based widget set is also not pure Java, and comes with machine-specific binaries; which makes it a pain to use if you're not on Windows/Linux or Mac. Sigh.
