  1. @chicuslavic - I had to delete my .eclipse folder and a few other temp files and then re-downloading worked. Thanks a lot!
  2. Tried to install 0.2.0 and it failed with the same error. This was right after it prompted me to confirm that I was installing "unsigned content". I pressed OK and got the error. It seems that the .jar file for com.jaspersoft.studio.doc_0.2.0.jar is not valid. In fact, it's just a text file with some error in it. Filing a bug report. !SESSION 2011-02-22 14:36:53.839 ----------------------------------------------- eclipse.buildId=M20100211-1343 java.version=1.6.0_22 java.vendor=Sun Microsystems Inc. 3. Hey, This post explains how to do a master report and sub-reports with different data sources: http://jasperforge.org/plugins/espforum/view.php?group_id=112&forumid=102&topicid=44794 - see post @ 08/25/2008 04:57 PM That's one way. Another way is to use the ETL product (http://jasperforge.org/projects/jasperetl) to grab data from your 3 sources and "normalize" it to run reports. Let me know if method #1 works for you or not.
  4. To submit patches, please first submit a bug, then you may attach your patch to that bug. http://jasperforge.org/projects/jasperserver/tracker Unless it's a critical issue with 3.7.1, I wouldn't bother too much on it, I'd focus on the 4.0 branch. Thanks for your great work, I saw your FreeBSD port. Keep us up to date!
  5. Hi! According to the 3.7.1 and 4.0 release notes: PostgreSQL 8.3 and 8.4 are supported for the WAR installer. Great to see that 9.03 is working. QA will not "certify" these platforms until they further mature but feel free to make progress on them. We'll be happy to review any patches that you submit for CE edition. I understand from previous posts that you're working on packaging for FreeBSD. That's really awesome! Any idea if there's any compatibility with your efforts for Debian packaging? Also, are you packaging 4.0 or 3.7.1?
  6. @jwatne 1. Yes, similar requirements, though they are pretty much on the lower end. If you don't want headaches, don't run it on the minimum requirements. Java is a lot happier with >2GB allocated to the JVM. 2. Regarding Pro vs Community: You'll want to give the Pro/Ent editions more memory so that you can do the in-memory reporting (AdHoc). 3. It depends on what kind of reports your users are running. Jasperreports can use different types of virtualizers that will offload either to disk, memory or CPU. This gets beyond the depth of a quick forum post, I'd recommend this excellent blogpost here: http://thoughtstoblog.blogspot.com/2008/08/generating-huge-reports-in.html Regarding concurrent users - I'd recommend setting up some example reports and then using a concurrency load testing application. I don't think there are any official published white papers on scaling up and down. In my opinion you have to know the types of reports that your servers are going to be running. It may turn out that you can do 100 concurrent users with some pretty cheap hardware if you're offloading most of the work to your databases. If you reports are actually calculating things then you need to see what resources those reports hit, again those are configurable as well. So yeah, lots of fun knobs to adjust :)
  7. For #1: Yes, you can embed it in an iFrame in your web-app. For #2: Yes, you can use the crosstab reports or use the OLAP cube functionality to see aggregate data. For the latter, you'll have to write the MDX queries for your business users but they can use them in any way they please. As far as documentation - there's the Install Guide, User Guide and Admin Guide. There will also be an "Ultimate Guide" that will cover topics more in depth, it's not published for 4.0 yet, there's the one for 3.7 which is still fairly relevant. There's also webinars and trainings available to help jump start your learning.
  8. Just wondering - if you do a "telnet localhost 3306" do you see a connection being made and a version number?
  9. All the answers to your questions here :) http://www.jaspersoft.com/basic-report-components
  10. Can you post the exact steps you took before getting this error? Also, paste what is around line 598 of /opt/jasperserver-ce-3.7.1-bin/buildomatic/install.xml And finally, why don't you try version 4.0 instead?
  11. eraven: If you're new to iReport, just download the installation package vs rolling your own with the plugin. At lease at first. lucassimao: you may need to set your jdk home in <ireport-install-dir>/etc/ireport.conf Something like: jdkhome="C:\Program Files\Java\jre6" I suggest launching the .exe via the command line, you should get an error there. Probably about Java not being found.
  12. There's a URIEncoding is set in tomcat\'s server.xml: /apache-tomcat/conf/server.xml - did you check that? I think the install + admin guides touch on this as well (maybe even specifically for Oracle)
  13. When you exported from your other install, were there any errors/warnings? Also, did you go from 3.5 -> 3.7 -> 4.0 or some other path. Keep in mind you can't really jump around versions, have to upgrade one at a time (unless you're sure your repositories didn't contain anything that deprecates, etc.)
  14. Well one more argument for you: Occasionally when you do a "yum upgrade" you may break something because of new functionality, etc. With your method you won't inherit any issues from automatic upgrades but as a side effect you won't inherit any security either.
  15. Well, it's definitely an interesting question and one that could be argued about in both directions. I'll say that I agree with your admin on this. It's a matter of QA testing + security. The "vanilla" version of Tomcat is not necessarily tested with your specific distribution in mind. It also has to work well in Debian/Ubuntu, Gentoo and all the other variaties of Linux. Because of this you may run into specifc bugs related to your distribution. My second argument towards installing the maintainer's version via yum is the fact that you're not going to be "manually" updating the version of Tomcat everytime there's a security issue in the upstream version. If this is a publically facing server, there's plenty that can go wrong with Tomcat. If Tomcat pushes out a security update, it should be picked up by the Fedora security team, packaged up and trickled down to you. Your admin then just periodically does a "yum upgrade" and inherits *some* security from upstream - installing a "local" version leaves it completely unmaintained and a very manual process in the future. The only argument towards using the "vanilla" version is that it usually works pretty well out of the box since there are no OS specific customizations done to it. Another is that you can install any version you please and are not limited to whats in the yum repos. Sorry for the rant, hope my "philosophy" on this makes sense :) Also, you're more than welcome to post specific questions on your Tomcat yum install here.
  16. What's the memory and CPU usage of the server machine look like while doing this? How about your localhost, high CPU/memory usage? Have you tried on more than one machine? Is running reports slow too or only browsing around? Not aware of any tweaks for loading the entire page (which would make it even slower). Seems like you have a general performance issue.
  17. Hi, JasperServer 3.5 CE was certified by QA using Firefox 3.0 and IE 7 - what browser are you using? It might be related to that. Any reason why you're not installing 4.0 or 3.7.1?
  18. Hi, you can change the setting in the applicationContext-search.xml Code:From:<property name="modes"><util:set><util:constant static-field="com.jaspersoft.jasperserver.search.common.SearchMode.SEARCH"/><util:constant static-field="com.jaspersoft.jasperserver.search.common.SearchMode.BROWSE"/></util:set></property>To:<property name="modes"><util:set><util:constant static-field="com.jaspersoft.jasperserver.search.common.SearchMode.BROWSE"/><util:constant static-field="com.jaspersoft.jasperserver.search.common.SearchMode.SEARCH"/></util:set></property>
  19. Hi Suki, Do you have any input controls/parameters that you configured in iReport? You'll have to configure them again in Jasperserver for the report to run.
  20. Wondering if this is only applicable to Microsoft Windows MySQL 5.5 users? The reserved word is MAXVALUE and the table name is maxValue so I think in Linux it should work just fine. 8.2.2. Identifier Case Sensitivity In MySQL, databases correspond to directories within the data directory. Each table within a database corresponds to at least one file within the database directory (and possibly more, depending on the storage engine). Triggers also correspond to files. Consequently, the case sensitivity of the underlying operating system plays a part in the case sensitivity of database, table, and trigger names. This means such names are not case sensitive in Windows, but are case sensitive in most varieties of Unix. http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/identifier-case-sensitivity.html
  21. Hi, as of version 3.7.5 this property is enabled. See this bug/feature request: http://jasperforge.org/projects/jasperreports/tracker/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=4262
  22. Have you tried outputting just $V{DAY_TOT} and $V{ORD_TOTAL}? in your report? You may want to take a look at ..\ireport\demo\samples\jasper\FirstJasper.jrxml for an example. Let me know how it goes!
