marianol
That error is because the installer it was not able to find or connect the Postgres DB for the JaseperServer Repo. If you are doing a WAR install check that postgres is up and running and accepting connections via TCP with the host, port and user you defined in default_master.propertiesThe installer has a log under /opt/jasperreports-server-cp-6.0.1/buildomatic/logs/ that will be a lot more verbose on the error that was encountered. Also check which Java Version (java -version in the command line) you have I have heard some issues in some linux distros when using OpenJDK switch to Oracle Java

hozawa
PostgreSQL sometimes errors during installation and results in an error when JasperReports Server installer tries to populate it with data.Either install PostgreSQL manually and specify it during installation or use a different database. I've found mysql to be a better choice.
j.mcdowell
Ultimately the solution for me was to i install as root into one dir which completes sucessfuly. Then install into a tomcat owned dir which fails on some sort of permissions issue related to postgres. Then I copied the startup scripts from the non-root user install and chowned everything to be owned by the user that the server will be running under. Started it up and it worked. The moral or take away of the story is that there is an issue with the jasperserver install that has yet to be addressed or has surfaced again with some sort of change. Thanks, J
