  1. Hi, I don't think there is a way to do this, but in my mind it's a completely valid use case - you might want to test input controls upon creation, just as you can test a new connection when you create it. Can you please visit the tracker and log an enhancement? Here's the URL: http://jasperforge.org/sf/tracker/do/listArtifacts/projects.jasperserver/tracker.feature_requests Thanks, Kristen
  2. Hi, Put simply, the Professional edition includes more functionality (such as ad hoc reporting and the ability to save analysis views), and is certified on more platforms than the Open Source edition. For more details, please refer to the Why Choose Professional section of this fact sheet: http://www.jaspersoft.com/JasperSoft_Products.html As to your question about Ad Hoc reporting, it's only offered in JasperSoft's Professional edition. It provides end users with an easy-to-use, drag and drop, web based report designer. Thanks, Kristen
  3. Hi Clem, You don't need to compile the XML - the server takes care of that for you. Once you've edited the XML (in a text editor or in the JasperAnalysis workbench), you can simply upload it to the JasperServer repository. Thanks, Kristen PS - You can download the workbench here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=162962&package_id=195243&release_id=498862
  4. If I understand your question (you need to give a user access to upload files to a particular folder), you must give them ROLE_ADMINISTRATOR. This grants the user access to the Manage menu option, which lets users add and edit files in the repository. Thanks, Kristen
  5. I also have a pie chart with really long category names that make the labels overlap. I was able to fix the problem by increasing the value of Label Orientation of the Chart Properties (third item from the bottom in the Common category). I have 13 labels that are two or three lines long, and none of them overlap when I set Label Orientation to 90. Thanks, Kristen
  6. The current JasperReports Ultimate guide is up-to-date with version 1.2.5; the current iReport manual is up-to-date with version 1.2.4. I don't have a date for the new versions that will be up-to-date with 1.2.8, but I believe new versions are in the works. As for the pricing of the docs, there is a reduced rate for those who buy both documents together. The annual subscription also has a similar offering. The pricing is described at: http://jasperforge.org/sf/wiki/do/viewPage/projects.jasperreports/wiki/MoreDocs Thanks, Kristen
  7. Hi, While I haven't used the web services in 1.1 myself, I believe the MEP message indicates a problem with the execution environment, maybe a incorrect service URL, incorrect user name or password, network errors, or service isn’t available. I've talked to Giulio about this, and he suggests using a SOAP monitor to understand the nature of the problem. Hope this helps, Kristen
