andycolman
Our organisation is undertaking a project to replace our current report engine with the Jaspersoft equivalent. At present our end users have access to a design studio which allows them to create/modify and deploy reports without our involvement. Is a similar model possible using Jaspersoft ? Or is it better to keep all report modification in-house ?Any advice/guidance would be much appreciated.Regards, AC
reportdev
I would refer you to another post where you would find more info https://community.jaspersoft.com/questions/824195/ad-hoc-reportingIf the users are comfortable with on the fly or adhoc reporting, Jasper does offer such licensehttps://www.jaspersoft.com/editions
Solution hozawa Posted September 30, 2018 Solution Share Posted September 30, 2018 If you are looking on using community version, your option is to use Jaspersoft Studio to design reports and to upload the design file to JasperReports Server to view the report on the web.If you have looking on using the commercial version, JasperReports Server offers a tool to design simple reports from web browsers. Both options have permission features.Whether to let customers design and upload reports or not depends on your policy rather than on feature of the software. andycolman
@hozawa Thanks for your reply. You mention JasperReports Server. We are calling the Jasper report engine from our own reporting application so I presume we don't need to use JasperReports server ?
