Need help with EXPRESSION EDITOR for a date field

I have this is my expression editor for a variable. It is a concatination of two fields, one is a date field. What I want to do is to have the date field appear as 'dd-MMM-yyyy' but becuase its concatenated, it comes across as yyyymmdd.

 

"Reactive Field "+$F{REACTIVE_DATE}+" -- -"+$F{REACTIVE_NUMBER}

is showing up as

'Reactive Field 20161112 --- 5515

 

I want it to show as

'Reactive Field 12-Nov-2016 --- 5515

 

I dont how to get the date into that format

Hi Jkeri,

Use the below sql statement in your jrxml query  for  REACTIVE_DATE field.

To_Char(Reactive_date, 'YYYY-MM-DD') as ReactDate[Whatever name you like to give] and use this in your text field element.

Hi, you can use the DATEFORMAT function in the expression editor.
For example something like this:

DATEFORMAT(TODAY(), "dd-MMM-yyyy")[/code]

produces the following output:

09-Mar-2018[/code]
