Ad Hoc reports hyperlink/URL to external application

I was able to give hyperlink to external website for columns inreports by editing the jrxml file. But can I acheieve the same thing in ad hoc views or reports created from ad hoc views without updating jrxml file. Is it possible to add a template while creating the report from the ad hoc view. Is it possible to format the data in such a way this is possible.
