Will Jaspersoft keep upgrading iReport until end of next year

iReport is suppose to be maintenance mode but I keep seeing new version with new JasperReports release. Is Jaspersoft going to keep upgrading iReport until end of next year when it is planned to be terminated? As it is, I really don't see the meaning of "maintenace mode" because I'm seeing new JasperReports features with each release.

Hi there - I also understand that iReport will be maintained through the end of 2015.  I have not seen anything in writing, but I get the sense that they will continue to increase the version number with each release until they hit end of 2015.  I am running iReport 5.6 and don't see anything new, at least not on the surface.  I highly doubt you will see any new features going forward.

Are there any new features in Studio that's not supported in iReport?

I think jasperreport lib is being updated with each release of iReport so users will be able to use new jasperreports features.

Very good point! Yes, that is correct.

Actually, that's too simplistic a view of what a feature consists of. Sure, if the library is updated, if you're working at the Java level, you MAY be able to use some of them. But any feature that would need UI changes, etc, to iReport would not work.
