jvway
Hi all,I have searched all over and can't find the answer to this. How do you properly update an install of iReport NB 3.5.x to the next version? I've tried just extracting the .tar over the existing install but it behaves like a new install. I don't expect to redefine my datasources and recent files and all each time.I'm using Ubuntu 9.04.I tried using the Netbeans iReport plugin hoping I could just update the plugin but there was no clear way to create a new empty report without first creating a java project and that seemed like overkill. (I created a thread on this earlier but no one responded. If you have a clue as to how to create a new empty report in NetBeans please let me know.)It seems like this ought to be clearly documented somewhere.ThanksJerry
jvway
Looks like I figured this out. It seems to be working fine and shows the iReport 3.5.2 logo on startup. I untarred (unzipped) the 3.5.2 files and copied the ireport folder inside into the 3.5.1 folder. This replaced what was in the ireport folder. I also copied all the .txt files from the root of the 3.5.2 folder so that the changelog and such are up to date. Hope this works for you. Puzzling that there is absolutely no info around on this. Also puzzling how awful this forum's search is.
jvway
Even better, in Ubuntu land anyway just copy the previous versions .iReport subfolders over the new one. Then all changes come across.
Giulio Toffoli
Another option is to copy the <user home>/.ireport/3.5.1 to <user home>/.ireport/3.5.2Here is where iReoport stores its settings.Giulio
