Is it there a way to make a report consume a REST webservice as a DataSource?

I would like to know if is there a way to make a report use a REST webservice an generate the report based on that.

Or is this only doable by create your own data adapter? If that so, could you please provide a link for a tutorial or something like that?

JasperReports support JSON datasource. There's a sample in JasperReports Java library source under demosamplesjsondatasource

But i would like to know if you can configure a Json adapter to retreive the data from a Web Service and not from a json file, is that possible to do or is it required to create your own custom adapter to perform that?
