Noting that despite the ReportServer CE (8.2 being I think the last) being AGPL(?) licensed, TIBCO (or whoever is the power now) is refusing to honour requests for the source.
Pretty much sucks. And, given that the CE is withdrawn, and that the source isn't being provided, what exactly is the point of having this community forum?
Paid subscribers presumably get support directly, and have no need of a forum.
CE users largely do not know enough to solve many of the problems, when they get past trivial.
Note: TIBCO offering a license for 20k Euros PER YEAR is way out of reach for most small businesses.

I do have the .war file installer for ReportsServer 8.2 if that is a help
-
We're looking like we will be moving our database to a different host.
Does that affect Reports Server? If so, how?
Essentially, is there a simple tweak to accomplish this switch?
Or am I looking at a re-install? -
Could that be revamped?
It is profoundly annoying -
If it helps I have a blow by blow set of instructions for installing the WAR version of JasperReports Server CE 8.20.
And I have the debian/ubuntu installer for it.
I am hyper-busy at the moment, so I might not respond quickly -
Noting that JasperReports Server 8.20 Community Edition was released under AGPL, and hence those who have that version, should be entitled to get its source code. So, why aren't those requests being honoured?

@unmak1You have a copy of the Server source? Did I read that right?
-
What do I need to do?
Noting that the license used for the CE does provide for access to the source code. -
Super tacky...
The solution appears to be this...- Delete the .snap file from the folder .metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.core.resources/
- Start JasperSoft Studio - the main screen is now ok, but projects are all "lost"
- Shut down JasperSoft Studio
- Restore the .snap file
- Restart JasperSoft Studio
Happy days or whatever...
-
So, what is the position of JasperSoft on folk wanting to take on the CE, fork it and go on with life?
-
Noting I have tried a complete uninstall, and re-install.
No joy. -
-
AFAIK, the Community Edition was Open Source - under the Eclipse License maybe?
Would TIBCO be ok with someone taking it from there and developing a fork?
If so, I'm up for that challenge -
If it's $20k per year, then that's going to blow more than a few smaller businesses out of the water.
Anyhow, at the risk of censure, does anyone have any decent alternatives to Studio and Server? -
So... how does one go about finding the pricing of the commercial edition?
I have asked, and basically got an email, then nothing.
Not exactly inspiring... in any sense.
-
I asked Tibco/Jaspersoft about pricing, but they don't seem to care to reply.
Luckily I have the installers for the last free/community versions still. -
The line with the error appears to have to be...
sudo ./js-install-ce.shThe rest seems to remain the same.
-
I am running openjdk-8
-
The instructions I have been following, which I believe worked in the past, are now failing on me.
Probably down to me.
What I did (my instructions to self) are below.
The install all seems to be ok, but fails on the line sudo ./js‑ant import-minimal-ce
The error/build log is...

Drawing a blank as to what's wrong here.
Not sure why git is even a consideration. -
Ok, that makes sense.
Getting closer to the source of the weird.
-
Well... rest on the server is neither here nor there.
My wondering is about what Studio does. Does it try and keep (in some sense) a persistent connection?
The impetus for the question is that there's been a few odd things happen with reports aimed at our development server (which is often taken off line, and brought back up).
There is nothing appearing in the tomcat or jasper server logs, but I wasn't really expecting anything.
If I can come up with a better way of documenting the weird people are experiencing, then I know that it'd help. But I have to start somewhere
-
As in, is it "as per need" (uploading a report say) and then dropping the connection, or does it keep the connection alive regardless?
-
Essentially what I want to do is use/apply the CSS style to an image generated by
filter: grayscale(100%);
So... how might I do that?
-
I guess it all seems easier if the installers (or WAR files versions) for the community and pro versions were all fixed for Jasper Server, Studio etc
Jasper Library CE is appearing as a "dangerous download" according to Chrome

One more piece of weird to add to this world.
Not sure why it would be tagged as such, but not entirely helpful to those wanting to download it.
