By: Speed - jftan3 field with database problem 2006-06-20 22:52 after i run through the wizard to create a new document for a new report. it was successful but after that i need extra table to combine with my report to just ad up a field. can u guys help me out??? is it using subdata set? By: TBG - thebiggunner RE: field with database problem 2006-06-21 04:07 O, i see...you dont't use query, you use wizard. Do not use any wizards, create your report with "hand".:) By: TBG - thebiggunner RE: field with database problem 2006-06-22 23:22 Yeha. As i know, you cannot use two different queries in your report. You have to use subreport.:( By: TBG - thebiggunner RE: field with database problem 2006-06-21 04:05 Hi. Did you try LEFT JOIN or NATURAL JOIN in your query? By: Speed - jftan3 RE: field with database problem 2006-06-22 08:40 ya... i also tried before using query with no wizard used.. does u meant that after i submit query for choosing the table, i cannot add anymore table that i want? for jus a field only in different table. By: Speed - jftan3 RE: field with database problem 2006-06-23 03:38 oh... nope... din try out yet...
  3. By: Tony - tt_linux iReport 1.2.3 cannot startup 2006-06-07 22:10 hi, I downloaded iReport 1.2.3 and it cannot startup. I could startup 1.2.1 and 1.2.2 with no problems after doing a chmod +x for the iReport.sh and startup.sh (for 1.2.1 and 1.2.2). I did the same for 1.2.3 but it did not work ? Did anyone have the same problem. I am running on linux. regards tony By: Tony - tt_linux RE: iReport 1.2.3 cannot startup 2006-06-07 22:37 hi, Found the problem. There was corruption in the iReport.sh and startup.sh script. Copied from 1.2.2 and it worked. 4. By: Dennis M - dennis2681 Summation total in group header 2006-06-22 06:39 Is this possible? When I try to put a variable in a group header that is a summation over a group I get unexpected results -- however if I put it in the group footer it works fine. am I doing something wrong or is this not implemented yet? thanks! also - there seems to be an error in 1.2.3 when trying to create a summation variable. i keep getting class not found errors even though the same report works fine in 1.2.2 By: Marcelo Fernandes - mcf-rocha RE: Summation total in group header 2006-06-22 07:03 Dennis, Check the "Evaluation Group" or "Evaluation Time" properties of your field. Good luck, Marcelo Carvalho Fernandes. By: Dennis M - dennis2681 RE: Summation total in group header 2006-06-22 07:40 worked like a charm, thanks!

  8. By: luiaard - vta_123 Javabean DataSource example 2006-06-22 02:17 Hi, I have implemented the xml datasource sucessfully by following the steps in the IReport manual version 1.2. When implementing the Javabean example from the manual exactly as explained it fails to fill the fields with the correct data. The following error message is displayed in IReport 1.2.3 when executing the report with the active connection : Error filling print... java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: Unknown property ... ... Do I have to implement JRDataSource interface? And if so is there some example available? Thank you By: luiaard - vta_123 RE: Javabean DataSource example 2006-06-22 04:06 Ignore the previous post.If only I implemented the example exactly as I should ... "getter" method must start with capital and member variable must be small caps. It works fine now.Nothing wrong with the manual.

The html content will be received through a Field. I've tried it already with the "Is styled text" attribute but this doesn't work. I would be very happy if anyone knows a solution. Thanks Fredi
  12. By: ben - bension Hibernate Datasource 2006-06-22 01:00 Hi there, I am attempting to set up a hibernate data source in iReport. Note that I am using annotations. I have added the appropriate jar files to the lib dir of iReport (ejb3-persistance.jar, hibernate-annotations.jar, + my application's jar files), but when I attempt to test the connection I get the following error: An AnnoationConfiguration instance is required to use <mapping class="x.x.x.x.MyClass"/> Anyone have an idea how to set up a hibernate datasource in iReport where the hibernate configuration uses annotations? Setup info: OS: Windows XP JVM: 1.5 iReport: 1.2.2 hibernate: 3.2.0rc2 hibernate-annotations: 3.2.0rc1 DB: HyperSonic 1.8 thanks in advance, Ben
  13. By: Leo Geoffrion - ldgpangeo Unable to start iReport on Linux 2006-05-15 11:28 This may be a dumb newbie question, but... When I try to launch iReport using the iReport.sh script, it immediately dies with an error message of "Cannot find lib in iReport home directory (null)" I've even tried setting it using the -ireport-home= flag but get the same error. The same code works fine on Windows and MacOSX. My Linux environment is Fedora Core 4. By: Chris Collins - crusty_collins RE: Unable to start iReport on Linux 2006-05-15 13:18 I get the same error but the app loads. Cannot find lib in iReport home directory (null) try and add -x to the bin/startup.sh and see if the script knows what EXEDIR is . By: golablues - golablues RE: Unable to start iReport on Linux 2006-05-16 10:56 I am having the problem, just installed on Fedora COre 5 with JDK 1.5..where do I add the -x? when running the script? By: Richard Thorne - atoren RE: Unable to start iReport on Linux 2006-05-18 22:33 Here is a hint that worked for me. If you are using the iReport.sh you need to chmod -R -x bin from the installation otherwise the iReport.sh doesn't can not execute the scripts inside the bin folder. Richard By: matias - el_itur RE: Unable to start iReport on Linux 2006-06-12 15:46 I'm getting the same message on kubuntu jdk 1.4.2 and I already check those files as executable... I presume there is another way, some classpath that's not defined or something but just can't get it work. if somebody has an idea it will be welcome since I need to get iReports working quickly or I had lost a job. Thanks By: Tony - tt_linux RE: Unable to start iReport on Linux 2006-06-12 23:54 hi, check my post last week. may help you. i have a feeling the startup.sh and ireport.sh files were not transferred properly for linux use. The <cr<lf> ... maybe i took a older addition (1.2.2 or 1.2.1) and it worked after that. Obviously, do a chmod to make it executable. Hope it helps. By: matias - el_itur RE: Unable to start iReport on Linux 2006-06-20 16:19 no, I' Already done that and I still get that message By: matias - el_itur RE: Unable to start iReport on Linux 2006-06-21 15:34 in fact I'm runnig ireport 1.2.2

Is there a way to open with a viewer by default from Windows so it opens and prompts for parameters, etc? Thanks in advance. By: Remo Fritzsche - remofritzsche RE: Open Report with viewer by default 2006-06-21 05:06 the .jrxml isn't a compiled file. i'm not sure if you want to open the .jasper file directly? in this case I think you'll have to start the report througt java (possible with a batch file). remo

It worked all fine, but suddenly I can't move any type of field througt the Mouse. With the Keyboard or coordinates it's still possible. Thanks. By: missioncoder - missioncoder RE: 4-Pages report 2006-06-16 08:01 I had a similar issue and I used the samples which can in the JasperReports demo, i.e. PrintService and PrintManager. I think you will be happy with the results. -MissionCoder By: tolga gucuk - e111982 RE: 4-Pages report 2006-06-19 01:15 thanks. Where can I find the demos? And I use ireport. By: missioncoder - missioncoder RE: 4-Pages report 2006-06-20 12:58 The demos are part of the JaperReport download, http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=36382&package_id=28579 . This .jar file contains ALL the samples you need for most development efforts. At the very least it will get you started. Let me know if you need any help installing it on Tomcat, I am currently using JR on Tomcat 5.27. ~Enjoy
  18. By: rwdenney5 - rwdenney5 Bar Chart: Rotating the Category Expression 2006-06-14 14:21 I've created a simple 3D bar chart but the category labels are being truncated because they are too long. Some of JFreeChart's demos show the category lables rotated at a 45 degree angle... any idea how to do that in iReport? Thanks, Ryan By: Marcelo Fernandes - mcf-rocha RE: Bar Chart: Rotating the Category Expressi 2006-06-15 13:06 Ryan, I think it's impossible nowadays with iReport. Although it's possible to be done using the JFreeChart in your application, there isn't such option in iReport's GUI. You will have to create your JFreeChart outside iReport and pass it as a parameter for JasperReport to be displayed as an image. Finally, about rotating the labels, try this on JasperReports: final JFreeChart chart = ChartFactory.createBarChart3D( "blablabla", // chart title "domain", // domain axis label "range", // range axis label dataset, // data PlotOrientation.HORIZONTAL, // orientation true, // include legend true, // tooltips false // urls ); final CategoryPlot plot = chart.getCategoryPlot(); final CategoryAxis axis = plot.getDomainAxis(); axis.setCategoryLabelPositions( CategoryLabelPositions.createUpRotationLabelPositions(2*Math.PI) ); I've been trying to find a way to fix the range axis of a a simple 3D bar chart in iReport but it's only possible in the same way. Marcelo Carvalho Fernandes By: rwdenney5 - rwdenney5 RE: Bar Chart: Rotating the Category Expression 2006-06-19 11:33 Thanks Marcelo. I kind of figured as much. I'm wondering though if I could use a customizer class to extend the functionality of iReport's charting. I'm assuming that the customizer class would allow access to the entire jfreechart api, but I've not been able to implement it. I'm not sure of the classpath. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Ryan By: Marcelo Fernandes - mcf-rocha RE: Bar Chart: Rotating the Category Expressi 2006-06-19 11:39 You're welcome Ryan, I have no idea about using the Customizer Class. Can you send to me the source-code of your class so that I can make some tests? Marcelo By: rwdenney5 - rwdenney5 RE: Bar Chart: Rotating the Category Expression 2006-06-19 13:52 I was actually just trying to test one of the samples included in the jasperreports download... jasperreports-1.2.2demosampleschartsBarChartCustomizer.java If I can figure out how to get my chart to compile using the customizer class then I should be all set because I think I'll be able to customize the charts using the jfreechart api. Thanks, Ryan

You should load the jasper file into the designer and you'll get the jrxml.:) By: wgyr - wgyr RE: jasper to jrxml conversion 2006-06-16 10:14 can u give more detailed information regarding how to load the jasper file to designer. If u r telling to open the jasper file in ireport designer then it is not opening correctly.A blank report is comming By: Martyn - martyn-hi-ss-nl RE: jasper to jrxml conversion 2006-06-17 05:30 I'm not usre but I think this is impossible. The jasper file is a compiled java class. Unless iReport can reverse engineer the file it's impossible but I could be wrong. By: TBG - thebiggunner RE: jasper to jrxml conversion 2006-06-19 00:34 Hmm...i use iReport 1.2.1. I created a jrxml file, compiled it and deleted the jrxml. Loaded into the designer and the report is on the screen.
  21. By: Cameron Taggart - ctaggart Classpath problems w/ a JRDataSourceProvider 2006-06-15 23:20 I'm having difficulties with a custom JRDataSourceProvider. I put my library containing the JRDataSourceProvider and its dependencies in the ./lib directory. One of the dependencies is Spring. Spring is in the ./lib folder, but I keep getting errors like: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: interface org.springframework.aop.framework.Advised is not visible from class loader at java.lang.reflect.Proxy.getProxyClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.reflect.Proxy.newProxyInstance(Unknown Source) at org.springframework.aop.framework.JdkDynamicAopProxy.getProxy(JdkDynamicAopProxy.java:104) at org.springframework.aop.framework.JdkDynamicAopProxy.getProxy(JdkDynamicAopProxy.java:94) at org.springframework.aop.framework.ProxyFactory.getProxy(ProxyFactory.java:72) at org.springframework.aop.framework.ProxyFactory.getProxy(ProxyFactory.java:101) at org.springframework.remoting.caucho.HessianProxyFactoryBean.afterPropertiesSet(HessianProxyFactoryBean.java:52) at I can't help but think it has something to do with: Object obj = Class.forName((String)jTextFieldJRDataSourceProvider.getText().trim(), true, MainFrame.getMainInstance().getReportClassLoader()).newInstance(); Any idea what I'm doing wrong? What does ReportClassLoader do? Will it not load the Spring jar? Cameron By: Martyn - martyn-hi-ss-nl RE: Classpath problems w/ a JRDataSourceProvi 2006-06-17 05:35 Have you added both jar files to the class path in iReport? Dont forget about the bug where your classpath is deleted when you reload iReport. It's possible your classpath is empty. By: Cameron Taggart - ctaggart RE: Classpath problems w/ a JRDataSourceProvi 2006-06-17 11:07 I placed all necessary jars in the "lib" directory to add them to the classpath. Is anything else needed? I haven't heard about that bug yet. Simple editing the source code and changing it to get "this"'s ClassLoader works. I also changed the remote communication protocol from Hessian to Spring Framework's HttpInvoker, which gives a lot clearer error messages.

  24. By: Zoneblade - zoneblade Sorting data from Zirius 2006-06-15 02:47 I'm new with ireport, and i'm trying to get data from a program called Zirius. Now, what i'm trying to do, is get the info from this post called "printed orders"(in norwegian, that is "utskrevne faktura"). But, i only want some of the orders to appear in ireport, how do i eliminate the ones i don't want to show? Or said in another way: How do i get only the ones that i want, without all the other "orderId's" appearing in ireport? By: Zoneblade - zoneblade RE: Sorting data from Zirius 2006-06-15 05:49 Guess i'll have to wait then(My coding skills are B A D...). But thanks for clearifying that for me... I was about to go crazy from not finding out how to do that... By: Giulio Toffoli - gt78 RE: Sorting data from Zirius 2006-06-15 05:27 You can write your own JRDataSource, or wait for the next version of JR, when a filterExpression will be available to filter data without using a filtered query. I can add a hibernate data source, and when I press 'test' the test is successful. However when I enter a query I get the message 'General Problem:Cannot Open Connection' If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it. Melissa By: mloudon - mloudon RE:FIXED Cannot Open Connection 2006-05-05 06:07 Fixed it - the problem was that the relevant jdbc driver (postgresql, in my case) needed to be copied into the lib/ directory of iReport By: abioye - abioye RE: Hibernate+Wizard:Cannot Open Connection 2006-05-18 08:02 i am getting the same error but i am using sqlserver and i have copied the 3 jar files: mssqlserver, msbase and msutil to the lib directory. however, the error persists! Please, any help, anyone? i need to sort this out quickly. By: Andrea Gioia - drjey RE: Hibernate+Wizard:Cannot Open Connection 2006-06-13 03:36 I faced the same problem just today. I noticed that ireport is unable to build the hibernate connection just when it is started up from the exe file. Try to start it up from the bat file and the problem should be fixed. Probably this is juat a bug of ireport exe file but i'm not sure about that. Obviusly you have to check that your class path is properly configured before doing this try. Bye By: Giulio Toffoli - gt78 RE: Hibernate+Wizard:Cannot Open Connection 2006-06-15 05:25 It's a limitation of the wrapper that is not able to fill dynamically the static classpath Using iReport.bat should fix the problem.
