v.zen
Hi,I want to use Jasper Report REST as a black box for "rendering" report. My idea is:get some data in json or xml format from my systemsget a Jasper Report template (done using Jasper Report Studio and saved in a db)pass datas and report via REST to Jasper Report serverget report:)Main concept is to pass to server datas (json or xml) and template (.jrml), server don't know data source and hasn't a pre build template. It's act as a black box: get two inputs, put one output. No connection to external systems.Questions:Is this approach correct?Where can I look for an example or documentation about this? Thanks in advance.v. Solution elizam Posted December 4, 2017 Solution Share Posted December 4, 2017 The whole purpose of the server is to act as a repository for reports. If you don't want to use that functionality, you'd probably be better off writing your own application directly on JasperReports.
hozawa
JasperReports Server holds Jasper Reports templates (jrxml files) in it's database. There's only a need to save your jrxml from Jaspersoft Studio to JasperReports Server and then use the API to generate reports.
