Best Datanase four Jasper

We want to make a bigger project with a jasper-report-server.

There will be approximately 1 Million Records a Month with we want to display in Reports and OLAP.

The Goal will be not fast Transactions (read/write) but fast querys.

Wich database management system and wich hardware Configuration you would recommend for this project?

I haven't tried too many databases but I would recommend Oracle. Remember, performance is highly dependent on how database and tables/indexes are structured as well as the sql statements.

Recommend that you get a good professional database person in the project.
