Using a Box in the detail section

hi,

i a using ireport 3.5.2. My detail sections contains mutiple rows the are fectche d from the db at run time. I want all rows to be surrounded by a retangular box. When i draw a box inside the detail section and run the report i get a box around each row rather then the desired effect. How can i achive this.

If the size of the rectangle must be fixed (like on a pre-printed sheet), use the backgound band and put your rectangle there, otherwize you can simulate a rectangle using lines:

--------------------------------------------   <-- First line in the previous band (or using a print when expression for the first row)
|                                                        |
|                                                        |  <-- Vertical lines. they have to streatch with the band hight (and repeat when detail overflow)
|                                                        |
--------------------------------------------   <-- Bottom line in the following band

You can use a fake group to get header and footer band to place your top/bottom lines.
