Giulio Toffoli
Starting from iReport 1.2.0, all jasper files can be used with a newer jarsperreports jar. The jasper files generated with a version prior than 1.2.0 must be recompiled (i.e. using the iReport massive compiler plugin), in fact there is a backword compatibility at source level (jrxml). If you don't want use a newer version of JasperReports in your project (why?!) you can still produce jrxml source code compatible with JR 1.1.0 setting this in the compatibility iReport menu. You still have to recompile the jrxml with your old jasperreports (or iReport) in order to use them in your system. In other words iReport enable you to use the last version of iReport/JR without losing the full source level compatibility with an old JR version. This compatibility is preserved avoiding to save newer tags in the JRXML: please note that much things are not supported in older versions of JR.
