Set Report Properties with Expression

Can anyone point me in the right direction to set Jasper Report Properties with an expression?

I would like to set PDF metadata (Author, Title) with an expression.

I don't think it's possible to set properties value from an expression because properties are read and set when the jrxml file is read and expression is evaluated when a report is generated. The only way I can think of to set author and title dynamically is to write your own program using JasperReports library to generate pdf report. Fortunately, this is very easy to do.
