how to prevent groups from repeating

I have created a report that has a group. Each of the groups members repeats about three times instead of appearing once in the preview. E.g, my group is called City and there are only two cities Johannesburg, St. Lucia, instead of these appearing once only with everything within their respective groups, they appear 3 times. I am not sure what's causing this.

Jasper does not sort the results of the query (or whatever your data is coming from), can you try sorting the data?

Create a sort field from outline window according your gruop which is city i guess in your case. Jasper groups the data according the order of the result set coming from datasoruce. So you need to order first.

Hello Jasperiousity, At the End of your Query write this statement .
` Order by City(Table Column name)`.
I have faced this same Problem . My report used to repeat though I was using grouping.
