How can I use relative paths in a data adapter.

Hello,

I am facing a problem in Jaspersoft Studio which is driving me crazy: I create a data adapter (right click on the project >> New >> Data Adapter) and select the XML file which shall act as the data source. JSS saves a relative path to the file. Pressing the Test Connection button states "Successful". So I consider everything as configured properly.

But: When I want to use this data adapter in the Dataset and Query Dialog, I get a FileNotFoundException: The system cannot find the path specified. JSS prefixes the relative part coming from the data adapter with its installation directory - what is clearly wrong. I also tried to use variables (PROJECT_LOC, ...) and linked resources in the data adapter definition but both did not work.
What do I make wrong?

Hi,
I think that what you are describing could be a bug in how the editing dialog works with 1) data adapters created from the Repository Explorer and 2) data adapters created as file inside a project.

You should create an issue on the tracker for it.
