passing login user Id to the report

Hi,

 Can jasperserver do the following:

User will  log-on to JasperServer to run the report.   But  need to confirm whether:

1. Can we pass Jasper User ID to the report so that they can only see customers that they serve?
   
2. Can we pass Jasper User ID's Role to the report so that they can see certain fields that "certain role" can only see.

In other words, Is there any login user id global variable available to the report??

yes both  can be pased with the "domain Parameters"

in Ireport under the palette

in the tools section

drag "domain Parameters" into your report

this will alow you to add the Logged in user , and logged in user roles

I can't seem to find the "domain Parameters" in the palette/tools area.

Do I need to download a plugin, change config, ?

Domains are only available for Jasper Professional Edition. 

If you are trying to pass the id of the user to the report you can do this by the username.

 

There are builds parameters for that purpose like $P{LoggedInUsername}
