Jasper Designer API is TIBCO Jaspersoft Studio-6.5.1.

There should be a "caused by" further down in the error log.

The error message above is in toal which observed in applicaton

(Eclipse IDE for Java Developers
Version: Oxygen.3a Release (4.7.3a)
Build id: 20180405-1200
OS: Windows 10, v.10.0, x86_64 / win32)

(I used to call Jasper report from the above IDE)

Again I tried in TIBCO with mannually inserting the charateres in question in the field  and tries "preview" which throw a message as below.

java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 40 . The letter in question is "സ്റ്റ"
