I have the exact same problem. I downloaded jaspersoftstudiopro-5.6.1.final and when I try to create a document, it crashes. Logs are the same as ioannis posted. I'm using Linux mint (17) and Java SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_72-b14).
