I think it is fair to say that there are some task that could be done in macros that might not be possible to be done through jasper and having this feature would sure bring the two worlds together nicely. This is starting to be more and more evident here at my company which happens to be in the financial industry. Definitely think this should be something to be considered for implementation

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one looking for a solution to this. is there a plan to add expressions to report level properties in future releases of iReport?
