Hi, I've upgraded my JasperServer instance in AWS from 5.5 to 6.0.1 by creating a completely new EC2 instance using CloudFormation template and importing our reports from the old instance to the new instance using JS Superuser Export/Import menus. Everything worked fine for a superuser and users having ROLE_ADMINISTRATOR. However, when a user logged in that had only ROLE_USER, only Reports created in JasperStudio work, but the existing Ad-Hoc views do not work and creating new Ad-Hoc views does not work with the AccessDeniedException listed below. I am not using any authentication customizations, so I don't think the Spring Security 3.x not applies. I checked folder permissions, seems they haven't changed. The Domain I am using has Read-Only permission to ROLE_USER. Th Domain's AWS Data Source has Execute-Only permission. That used to work in 5.5 Sample Supermart Ad-Hoc views (in /root/Public/Samples/Ad Hoc Views) do work somehow. I already solved my immediate problem, which was to find the source of SQL error. It's already fixed. However, my current problem is that I can't get the sql query of the subreport which generated the exception from the exception. My requirement is to display the report name, the query, and some parameters which generated exception. The parameters are available from the master report parameters, since they are mostly passed down directly to the detail reports. However, calculated parameters would be nice too. So, I guess the exception needs to know about the subreport's parameters as well.

I am not using a debugger. If I was using a debugger, I could inspect anything. I am writing code which needs to handle the exception. I don't want to "see it", I want to use it. All you need to do is something generic like try { JRFillSubreport.prepare(report) } catch (exception e) { throw new JRFillException(report, e); } instead of JRFillSubreport.prepare(report) } catch (exception e) { throw new JRException("exception in report " + report.getName(), e); } I want flexibility in formatting my own exception message instead of using your message which only contains report name.

I get the SQL exception, but I don't know which query and parameters it's coming from. That's the whole point. I agree, it probably makes sense to leave JRException alone for a number of reasons, but then derive JRFillException from JRException and add a getReport method which knows about the report being filled. Exception is a sort of an event and typically events know about their source. You already return the subreport's name in the text of the message. It would've been much easier to return the whole subreport object.

I am guessing an unordered hashtable is screwing up the order somewhere. Both versions of Jasper Reports that I tested are using the same jfreechart library, so that's not the culprit.

Hi, I have embedded net.sf.jasperreports.view.JRViewer into my application. I'd like to customize save button to add busy cursor and a suggested report filename. However, method JRViewer.btnSaveActionPerformed and field jasperPrint are package private, making extending JRViewer class very cumbersome. Sagar,It looks like your image is being resized using a poor quality algorithm. It could be either by the browser, if you have a mismatch between the actual image size and the size specified in html with CSS or height/width attributes on the img tag. Take a look at the html source. Alternatively, maybe it's Jasper trying to resize the image with a poor algorithm. Perhaps my patch can help. If you don't know how to apply the patch yourself, wait for Lucian to release a version which incorporates my patch. Nicholas Sushkin

It looks like the images were rendered using different chart themes. Do you have chart themes jar in your classpath when you expport your report to HTML? Nicholas Sushkin
