It can be done. Set the position type to 'Float' in the subreport properties. But now I need to use that variable in a chart...but nothing is showing up. My series and catagory expressions work. And the variable will work in a text field but not in the chart. I've tried all kinds of combinations as far as evaluation and reset times. Has anyone got this to work? What did you do? Please help! By: Motoko2501 - motoko2501 some questions 2005-12-12 07:30 Hi, i have been using iReport for a while and i have some questions because i havent discovered yet how to do some things. 1) Let's supose i have a "count" query that returns fields A, B and C (grouped by C). How can i set a 'field' (for example the one where C is going to be showed) default value to '0' so that this 'field' should remain '0' if i get no count for C from the database for this field. 2) Is there any way to do more than one query for one report? 3) Is there any way to return values from subreports and show them in 'main' reports. 4) How can i make a subreport 'stay' on the place i put it in the 'main' report, it always shows on other places. I defined fonts with winXP's font tools. they will be stored in eudc.tte. when i generate report, the jasper viewer/rtf/excel/html preview can see the fonts display correctly but in the pdf preview mode the user defined font will display as a empty space. I suspect that it's a problem from itext for there is no problem to generate jasper viewer/rtf/excel/html file.

By: Shammi Hettiarachchi - shammif2 problems with Creating subreports with MS SQL 2005-12-11 12:05 HEllo people i'm an IT student & currently working in a project when i create two seperate reports and compile and Run it's ok. but i cannot link those reports together through subreport tool. when i run the master report it shows only the master report content only. i've used the option "use connection expression" in sub report.then whole report gets an error saying resulset busy htsmt... and so on bla.. bla... when i placed the sub report element in summery section it's ok & doesn't give above error. How can i build a 100% working sub report with IReport 0.5.2. No add a new variable called SHOW_IMAGE in the report design also add another field SHOW_IMAGE. IN the java code when there is no image set SHOW_IMAGE = 0, otherwise, set it to 1. In the report design, for the image element say print when expression as (Integer.parseInt($V{SHOW_IMAGE}.toString()) == 1)?Boolean.TRUE:Boolean.FALSE. This condition would take care of showing the image only when it is present. When adding the variable name in the report design, set Expression to $F{SHOW_IMAGE} and set initial value expression as 0. The type of variable SHOW_IMAGE and the fiels SHOW_IMAGE should be the same. For the type of expression i have used here, use java.lang.String. Hope this helps! In certain situation, the system might have official receipt document number, but does not have image file (officialreceiptdocumentnumber.jpg). I just cannot find a way to solve this issue.
