2001 JI Open Discussion
By: Yong Wang - wymz PDF printing directly to printer 2002-09-17 07:48I wonder if it is possible to print directly to a printer from web browser without opening up acrobat reader. In my case, the pdf content gets generated by jasper on server based on some form selection user submitted. The reason I don't want to show reader is because the pdf data are preprint form data, i.e. the scattered data are to be printed on some pre-printed forms. The data don't look anything meaningful by themselve. Can this be done? Thanks. ---Yong By: Teodor Danciu - teodord RE: PDF printing directly to printer 2002-09-18 01:13 Hi, I would be possible using an applet. I'll provide a sample to show all that in the next release. If you are running on linux/unix systems, you can print PDF files directly from command line using Acrobat. Check the Acrobat Reader documentation for details. You could create a servlet or something to launch Acrobat printing functionality on the server. Thank you, Teodor By: Yong Wang - wymz RE: PDF printing directly to printer 2002-09-18 06:59Thanks, Teodor. BTW, the new whenNoDataType option works great. Thanks!
