Determining space required for data

Hi,

 

I don't use any tools for creating Jasper reports. I create the xml file the manual way. One major problem is determining the space to be allocated to the data.

 

Since I am not aware of any specific method by which I can determine this info, I am forced to do a lot of iterations to ensure that I get the spacing correct. As a result, the time taken to complete a report is high.

 

Any inputs would be most welcome.
