More Time for Single Select Query Data Entry

When and end-user is entering a value into a Single-Select Query parameter field, they must be able to type the entire string without a pause or the function figures they are done and selects the closest match for the field they entered. If they then enter the rest of the string without looking, they are taken to that closest match. For example,

Available values from Query

12340000

12345678

11223344

56781234

They want to enter 12345678. As they enter the value, they go 1234 and pause. The function see's the pause and brings up 12340000. If they then enter 5678 without looking they are taken to 56781234. If they do look, then they have to enter 12345678 again to go where they wanted or scroll down which appears to be a problem for them when working with real data.

A pause is perfectly acceptable but is there a way to lengthen the pause? Allow them more time to finish entering their number before the function decides they are done entering and matches a value?

Thanks,
