wldmr1s
Hi, I have a general question. There is an application/website written in .Net, with MySql in a back-end on Windows Server. I need to add reporting & querying functionality to this website. I think that Jasper Reports will be a good tool for it. I am new to it and I don't understand what role Jasper Server would play here. Can I isntall Jasper Server on existing Windows Server with MySql databse running on it already? If I do, do I install Jasper Reports after installing Jasper Server, or can I install the Jasper Reports without installing the server? I need login/permissions who can run what reports/queries.Thanks
Solution swood Posted March 1, 2010 Solution Share Posted March 1, 2010 JasperServer includes JasperReports. Install JasperServer. Define a data source in JasperServer that points to your MySQL application database. You can develop and test reports in iReport and then deploy them to JasperServer from within iReport. You can define users, roles and permissions on the JasperServer repository so that you can segment what reports are available to what users. wldmr1s
Can I install Jasper Server on the same box where the original MySql Database is?It is version 4.1.Jasper Server will want to install it's own MySql database.Won't that affect the original database?Post Edited by wldmr1s at 03/01/2010 17:
swood
Yes, you can install JasperServer on the same machine as the database. There maybe performance issues. Install the JasperServer MySQL instance to run on a different port - not 3006. ShermanJaspersoft
