Building Reports on the Fly

We are evaluating the use of JasperReports in our application. So far, it looks great.

 

One question: I have a requirement to build reports on the fly for a simple report generator. How would I do this in Jasper? Would it be possible to do this without requiring tools.jar?

Hi,

 

You'll be using the JasperReports API to create or

modify report teamplates.

The next version will introduce support for expression

evaluation using BeanShell, so compiling with a Java

compiler will not be mandatory anymore.
