Hi,

At the link http://www.jaspersoft.com/JasperSoft_JasperServer.html, it is said that customizable chart themes can be used to change the look and feel. I would like to know how these chart types can be extended and made available in jasperserver.

For example : When creating Adhoc reports using Chart & Table with chart shown, the only chart types that are made available are bar, pie, line and area. How about using other types like bubble, meter, cadle stick, multi axis, scatter and other types as available in iReports 3.1.2.

Is there anyway these themes can be applied when performing adhoc reporting.

Also why are there no chart types available to add, to adhoc reports created using Cross Tabs.

Thanks

Rama Kumar

hi,

Does anyone has answer to above question i posted earlier. I have seen some webinars which talk about, extending the chart types, adding customizable themes, and using external visualization engines to extend charting capability.

JasperServer Pro 3.1 seems to be improved in this way but, I didnot see any documentation on these.

Also wondering y there isn't any chart type to be added on using Adhoc Report using Cross Tabs. Adhoc report using Table allows chart types to be added.

Thanks

Ram

Chart themes and custom visual components can be used in JasperServer 3.1 within static (iReport defined) reports. You need to deploy the chart themes and custom visual components as JARs into the JasperServer WAR. These new features are not available in ad hoc reports.

In JS 3.5 (end March release), there are quite a few changes that beef up visualization.

  • All chart types in JasperReports are in ad hoc (JS Pro).
  •
  • JasperReports chart themes cannot be directly applied to ad hoc reports, but there is the existing ability to add ad hoc specific themes that can be selected while within the ad hoc editor. These ad hoc themes can be added to if needed.
  •
  • Improved ad hoc UI for data exploration in the browser
  •
  • based on JasperReports 3.1.4, JS gets XML based chart themes (CE and Pro). The XML themes can be packaged in a JAR and added as a resource to report units.

Beyond that, we are working on getting FusionCharts v3 as an option for JS Pro, including ad hoc.

In the upcoming release of JasperServer professional, two more chart types will be supported by Ad Hoc designer out of the box: XY plots and Time Series plots and it will be easier to add customize Ad Hoc to support additional JFREE chart types.

You will also be able to switch visualizations on the fly (chart->table-> crosstab) without losing data
