Add resources for role_user

I want to allow role_user to add resources (report units, list of value, etc )in jasperserver community version, is there a way to do this?

You just need to give Read/Write/Delete permissions.  At my company, we created a folder for each type of resource (data types, lists, reports, etc.)  If you do something similar, you can then click the folder you created, click the Assign Permissions icon, and change give Read/Write/Delete permissions to ROLE_USER.

If Read/Write/Delete doesn't do it, you can also give it Admin rights just to that folder.

I tried your suggest, I was able to have the Add Folder option available to role_user.  I was talking about the hidden icon between Add Folder and Assign Folder Permission, should be called Add Resource, which is not available to role_user.

What happens if you give your users (or ROLE_USER) admin rights to that folder? Can they add resources that way?

I tried that also, they can only add folders once the role is set with administrator rights, not resources like reports, list of value.

That sounds like a bug to me. There is no reason why an administrator shouldn't be able to add resources. You should report that as a bug.

 

I guess the only way around it is to make resources under an account that has a ROLE_ADMIN role. :(

The JasperServer screens do change according to role. Only ROLE_ADMINISTRATOR can add resources. To change this requires JSP and Spring configuration changes.

In that case.... another work around is to give users iReport. They can add resources from within iReport. :)
