joshhighley
I'd like to create a box and whisker chart. It's supported by the JFreeChart version included with JasperReports and iReport, but it's not offered as a chart option. Is it possible to create a custom chart? ...sort of like creating custom data sources by implementing JRDataSource, only with charts.
Teodor Danciu
Hi,Yes, this is now possible. We have completed initial support for custom components. This will be part of the next release. In the meantime, you can take a look at the SVN repository version and see how custom components (including additional chart types) can be added to the JasperReports engine (/demo/samples/barcodes and /demo/samples/jchartscomponent samples).Note that if custom components sounds too much for what you want to do, you can still render charts as images using the JFreeChart library directly, as shown in the /demo/samples/jfreechart sample.I hope this helps,Teodor
joshhighley
Using the JFreeChart library directly sounds like what I want to do. Where do I find the sample you reference: /demo/samples/jfreechart ? Thanks, Josh
svenn
The proffesional edition comes with the sample reports. That might be what he is refering to. The open source version does not.
joshhighley
I'm using the eval version of the professional edition. I've been referring to the included custom data source examples but can't find anything about JFreeChart under samples
