Adhoc report takes very long time in processing

In Jasper Server, when I run the Adhoc report and click on START button to execute it, field selector screen appeares and after selecting desired columns I again run the report with default its parameters.The report gets executed in sufficent time if the value of default parameter is such that it selects some records. But when the records are in large amount, it will takes very long time and breakes the session. I get the login page again when I try to get next page in HTML ouput  or click on export pdf button.

Can anyone help in improving the performance of Adhoc report processing.

Ad hoc reporting does load the complete result into memory in order to get the desired interactivity. When you are running the editor, you do not need a large result in order to layout the report, so ensure that the filters for the topic will retrieve a limited result set. You can set different filters for the final report.
