charts in subreport

I am trying to design a report which has header, detail, etc... and then two full page Charts in the summary band. The design view does not allow me to have enough workspace to do this, so I am going the subreport route.

 

My concern on this is since I can only pass in parameters (and not fields), I would have to reconstruct the SQL statements for each chart to generate my fields/data which I plug into my category/series/value for a bar chart. by doing this, I would be creating a redundant query and doubling/tripling execution time. Am I correct on this assumption, or what am I missing?

As far as I know yes you would have to run the query several times. It would be nice if we could get a result set from the main query and use it to generate all the subsequent queries.
