bug : extra columns in excel export

Hi,

Is there a way to fix extra columns added when I export my report to excel file?

if not, is it planned?

What do you mean by extra columns being added? Did you check that the report column/page widths match up to the actual width of all your fields? If it is wider, there will be a wide column added to the excel file produced to account for this width.

it is a problem of exporting in xls, which you can only fix by rearrange your columns like it is described here:

As I'm a new user of jasperReports, I didn't realize that field's width and position were VERY important to generate good display in excel...:blush:

When you create Excel it formats items into a tabular format. For this to look correct you must do the following

1. Your column headers fields must line up horizontally. That is they must have the same "Top" or "y" value.

2. Your detail lines must be lined up with each matching column. That is they must have the same "Left" or "x" value.

It they are off by even one pixel you will ened up with extra columns.
