philippe.lautier
Hi,I'm new to Jastpersoft Studio and I am evaluating the product for corporate deployement (the free verison for now).I'm trying to plot data in a Time Series Chart from and SQL database. My query groups the data on three columns (fields): the time stamp "Time" the Dapapoint name "Datapoint" and the "Value". Each row has a Time, Datapoint and Value. The data is sorted by Name and then Time.I would like to select which "Name" is actually plotted in the chart. If I only use "$F{Datapoint}" in the "Series" field of the Chart Configuration, I successfully plot ALL the Datapoints - but I can't figure out the syntax to plot only certain datapoints. Can someone give me a hint (I do not know JAVA at all)? Thanks.
hozawa
Can't you just put a "WHERE" condition in your SQL to select only the data you want to plot? You won't need to know Java with this.
philippe.lautier
Yes, that's probably my main foldback solution. i was just expecting to be able to have a single SQL query for all the plots and be able to select for each chart the data to display. Is it that complex to filter the data to display from the series field in the Chart Config. ? hozawa
Just create a subdataset. It's possible to create a subdataset for each chart. It's described in iReport guide chapter 14: "Subdataset". There's still no section in Studio manual, but it's fully functional in Studio too.http://community.jaspersoft.com/documentation/ireport-ultimate-guide
