Need to select database attributes dynamically

Hi Guys,
I am using ireort designer 5.5.0 for generating jasper reports. I am having requirements where database attributes should be selected dynamically such as database host name, user id, password etc based on the user input say local DB or dev DB. How this can be acheived using ireport designer? Your suggestions are appreciated.

Hello,

out of the box that isn't possible. iReport is merely a report designer tool and it does not feature a datasource that would dynamically generate at runtime based user input. I mean you can create different data sources and pick the ones you want before previewing the report in iR. But it is not JR-engine related logic. You would have to implement your own solution for dynamic datasource selection in your application.
