tboerkel
HI! We have 2 major problems with global styles. We want to use global styles, so we change one style and then every report changes automatically. Also, this has to work with the reports and style being in the serverrepository. It seems that Jasper Server does work nicely with these requirements but iReport does not. Problem #1 (global styles and WYSIWYG):When using global styles from a template in the styles library (on the local filesystem), as soon as we deploy the report to the server, we lose WYSIWYG for style in the designer. We see the correct style only when running the report (on the server). Now, why does this work at all? Because the server then accesses the local filesystem(!) to get the style definition. Problem #2 (global styles from a template in the repository):iReport does not know anything about global styles in the repository. We do not see the styles in the style library. It does not even know the file type.To really use a global style from the repository in our reports, we have to first work with the global style template from the local filesystem. Then we have to import the style template file with theweb interface of Jasper Server and then, again with the web interface, make a reference to that template in the report. Then we have to manually edit the .jrxml and delete the old style reference to the local file system. Then, when running the report on the server, the global style from the repository is being used, if it has the same name as the formerly used style from the local filesystem. This is all pretty cumbersome. All this should work from within iReport. Perhaps someone could please explain us how the people at jaspersoft imagined the style template usage scenario on Jasper server or how can style templates that are deployed in JS repository be used in iReport (during design). Any help or advice about this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Regards,Thomas
