Can I show totals at the top of the report?

I am beginning to get back into using Jasper Reports to build some reports for an application and I have a question.

Previously I had used variables in the design XML to do summations and then displayed the total in the summary section. This of course happened after all of the group/details series.

Now I have a need to show this kind of total at the top of the report (instead of at the end) before the report cycles through the group/detail sections.

Will this work?

Is there anything special I need to do to get JR to figure the totals before the reports is displayed?

Hi,

 

Use the "evaluationTime" attribute for your text fields.
