iReport Designer for JasperReports is very good.

iReport is probably a good product, I tried it and had some success with it, but I'm looking for a product to be embedded in my own application (in which JR is already embedded. Moreover, a product written in J++ (M$) would probably not be as portable as real java applications are.

The folks at iReports are working on a pure java app. They even have a few screen shots of the java app done.
