Ok, printWhenExpression in bands but what happens if it's not possible to have more than one band in the detail ?

Hi,

Could you be more specific?

I'm not sure I understand what the problem is.

Thank you,

Teodor

Hi,

I expected that I could use printWhenExpression

depending on the record then I will print one band or another.

But if I declare two <band> in the detail I receive a error of the compiler 'The content of element type 'detail' must match '(band)'. The same occurs to groupHeader and groupFooter.

Thanks.

Hi,

No, printWhenExpression at band level is not

for that.

You use subreports to change the content of

a band and printWhenExpression on that subreport

elements.

You can place two simple subreports, one on top

of the other in your detail section and switch

between them as you please, using their

printWhenExpression functionality.

I hope this helps.

Feature Request, Subreports, PrintWhen

2002-09-24 13:36

Hi Teodord,

Obviously, there is a lot of fuss about the subreports. Couple of months ago, Milen proposed to have a default option for a report/subreport when the recordset is empty.

One of the ways around this is to check whether we have records in our main class and display alternative reports when no records are found. I was wandering - is this applicable to subreports?

What I mean is can we use printWhen on subreports and thus display different subreports when the recordset is empty?

I have about 6 subreports and each could have an empty recordset. Hence I must write 6 alternative subreports and use the printWhen.

Well if this is the only way around it - fine. But It would have been much nicer if we have the feature of displaying alternative/whenEmpty content of a report when the corresponding recordset is empty.

Another thing - I downloaded Jasperdesign and was quite disappointed to find that it does not support subreports. Is there any graphical designer which does?

Thank you!

Hi,

Yes, this is on my TODO list from sometime...

But always had other priorities...

Maybe soon.

Thank you,

Teodor
