I was able to resolve the problem by using the two patchfiles mentioned in this thread: https://community.jaspersoft.com/jaspersoft-studio/issues/13296

I was able to get hold of a windows 10 system and it works as expected. I can click/select a field, and then drag to move and it shows the move as it happens. So it appears to be an issue with Studio on macOS? Ideas? Thanks!

Hello All, I am new to JasperSoft and am not familiar with a lot of the terminology. But the problem I am having is that when I try to select a field to move / re-position it, it is not showing as highlighted and when I click and drag to move it, it does not move. But if I scroll the mouse it show it as highlighted and if I have moved it, then it jumps to the new position. I know it is selected as the properties do change. I am using a macbook pro running catalina and community edition of jasperstudio 6.16. Ideas on what may be wrong? Thanks!
