  1. Change the expression of the image field of the dataset to inputStream. Then create an image element then set it's expression to that field.
  2. Hi. I am new to Jasper tools and the community here. I asked many questions the past weeks and many of them had no answers. Is there a reason for that? Is it my questions? Or is the community not that interactive?
  3. I have TIBCO Jaspersoft® Studio 6.8.0. My report has a background image. When I set page margins to i.e 20mm, it's applied to everything on the page(bands and background). I need to apply the margins to everything on the page except for the background so the background covers all the page including margins and the bands start printing after the page margins. Can this be accomplished?
  4. Hi. I have TIBCO Jaspersoft® Studio 6.8.0 and Oracle's JDBC driver version 7 to connect to Oracle database XE. I have a report with a main dataset which is based on a query. And a background image that's retrieved through a different query. I can not add the image field of the subdataset to the background band. So, how Add a background image from subdataset in JasperSoft Studio? I appreciate if there's a better way to accomplish the task. Thanks.
  5. Hi. I have TIBCO Jaspersoft® Studio 6.8.0 and Oracle's JDBC driver version 7 to connect to Oracle database XE. I have a table that has a BLOB column in which an image is stored. The image is a PNG but I can convert it to other image formats if needed. Here is the query that retrieves the image... The query retrieves one row. I need to set the retrieved image as a background for my report. I need it to cover all the page(including margins). What is the best way to do that? P.S I do not mind updating JasperSoft Studio or OJDBC or else if that could ease the task. Thanks a lot.
  6. I need to know why can not one call the report directly with URL i.e http://localhost:8090/jri/report?_repName=test&_repFormat=pdf&_dataSource=default using a button instead of using the xlib_jasperreports.show_report procedure?
  7. Found it. Replace ":XE" with "/XEPDB1". SO, url=jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:XE will become url=jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521/XEPDB1
  8. Hi. I am new to JasperReportsIntegration tool. I followed the quick start guide https://github.com/daust/JasperReportsIntegration/blob/main/src/doc/github/installation-quickstart.md but I faced a problem configuring the database access. I have Oracle database 18c xe. And I have a pluggable db named xepdb1 which has my schemas. When trying to configure the "default" variable for database access in "application.properties" file, it did not work and I got error says that it does not know of an SID with the name xepdb1. So, now I know that it uses SID not service name. But SID is assigned to the container database CDB not the pluggable database. Here is the "default" variable configuration part in the file: How can I connect with service name instead of SID? Or how should I handle that situation?
  9. Hi. I am using reference "Jasper Reports ultimate guide third edition". I am trying to see JasperReports in action through downloading the full project package from the following SourceForge.net location: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=36382&package_id=28579. I have downloaded ANT BUILD TOOL binary distribution "apache-ant-1.9.16-bin.zip" from "https://ant.apache.org/bindownload.cgi" and installed it as it's manual "https://ant.apache.org/manual/index.html" says. Last step was, "ant -version", and I got the message "Apache Ant version 1.9.2 compiled on July 8 2013". I got jre1.8.0_261 and jdk-12.0.1 installed. Now, I am trying to run HSQLDB DEMO DATABASE server through launching "jasperReports sample project....demohsqldb>ant runServer " command. But, unfortunately, I get... When I search for files named "runServer" in all folders and subfolders of jasperReports sample project directory, I found only one image with that name that shows a picture of the server running! I tried downloading "apache-ivy-2.5.0-bin.zip" from the https://ant.apache.org/ivy/download.cgi, Extract the zip file and copy the ivy-2.5.0.jar file to C:my_ant_homelib" as suggested in the following thread that mentions the same problem but with no vain... https://community.jaspersoft.com/questions/982676/haw-i-fix-hsqldb-runserver-problem What could be the reason and solution for that? Thanks in advance
  10. Hi. I am using Oracle database xe 18c with Oracle application express 22.1.4. The JasperReports ultimate guide says... It cannot run on its own and must be embedded in another client- or server-side Java application. Oracle database supports Java. Can it be used with JasperReports library?
  11. Hi. I was planning to use Jasper Reports server to execute reports designed by JasperSoft Studio. But I was shocked with the hardware requirements needed to install it. I am using a compute instance(Virtual Machine) on Oracle OCI always free tier.. I only have one OCPU(1 Core) and 1GB of RAM where Jasper Reports server needs 4GB of RAM at minimum and 2 core processor plus 10GB Disk Space. As you can tell, I am far a way from the needed requirements. What could be the solution for that? Are there older versions that can be installed using my resources? Can I only use the Jasper Reports Library(The reports engine)? I only need to run some reports as PDF and send others directly to the printer. I always heard that Jasper Reports Server is a web application. Now, I know that it's installed locally and run on a web browser, but it's not a web application that I can access without installation, right? P.S. 1- I am seeking free solutions. 2- I am using Oracle database XE. Oracle Database provides support for developing, storing, and deploying Java applications.
  12. @ecanaveras I am interested only in free for production editions. After surfing the web, I got to know that JasperReports IO is not free for production use, right? Kindly, correct me if I am wrong... 1- JasperSoft Studio is used for designing reports. 2- I need JasperReports Server to publish reports designed by JasperSoft Studio and be able to call them. -------- I am just confused between both because I read that JasperReports Server is used for designing reports as well, right? Then what is the difference? Why would I choose JasperReports Community edition over JasperSoft Studio community edition?
