  1. I get so tired of people asnwering that do not understand the nature of the queston. Almost every thread I come to on here has people giving answers that to not actually answer the question being asked... nomatter how clear the OP was.
  2. I have text fields in the detail band that I do not want to print repeating values... EXCEPT when it is in the first line of a new page. How can I do this? I have tried "print in first whole band" but I get the the feild NOT print on the first line (so apparently the whole band somehwere in the middle of the next page). I have also tried changing the split type of the detail band to "prevent" and "immediate" and it made no difference either. Please help. I don't have the option to put these fields in a header either as these are to be in-line with the other data in the report.
  3. I have a single query that gives data for multiple categories of metrics we use. I am trying to find a way to have a chart render for each category and for each of those charts to print out in a tiled fashion as shown in the pic. Ideally they render left to right (until there's not enough room), then down to the next line and so on until done. My example shows 4 charts formatted in the manner I am wanting... but in the future we may add more categories and if we ever do I would like the report to simply keep appending the subsequent charts. Here is my example: I could do subreports for each individual chart but I'm trying to avoid that so in the future if we ever more categories in our system they would automatically show up on the report... rather than me having to manually go add more subreports and explicitly add them to the main report.
  4. I see this was posted 7 years ago... and today on 2020 I am having the same issue. It absolutley amazes me how many little issues like this that people have had for YEARS and TIBCO rarely answers the questiosn nor do they seem to make an attempt to fix it. It also amazed me how many little things that should be VERY SIMPLE are completely NOT.
  5. The links in the "answer" for this question don't even remotely begin to answer the OP's question. They're just links to the introduction guides, etc. This community is littered with non-answers like this and it's maddening trying to find any real help on here because of it. You'd think after all this time so many questions on here would actually have answers... but they don't.
  6. Hi everybody, I'm using Jasper Server 7.1.0 Community Edition. I've recently started to try running reports asynchronously using the rest_v2 reportExecution service. Right now I can successfully login via a GET or POST command, I can sucessfully run the report via a POST command, I can get the status the entire time it's running with no problem and I even successfully get the execution details when it's finished running... and it shows the correct number of pages, etc. too in the detail so I know it ran. BUT... I simply CANNOT download the output afterward. Every time I try and issue a GET request using the request ID and export ID as instructed in the REST API documentation I always get a 404 "Page not found" error. Can anyone please help? I have been at this for so long I don't remember when I started and I keep coming back to the same resources over and over and over when I search. Thanks in advance!
  7. UPDATE - Apparently I did not do things exactly as shown in the tutorial... I discovered that after performing a "Build All" everything now works. Hopefully this helps others as I have seen this same question unanswered all through the community now.
  8. Hi everyone, I am just getting my feet wet with Jasper Studio CE 6.6.0 and I *cannot* get a subreport to show up in a main report. When I do the tutorial using the "Coffee" Sample DB report everything works fine. But now I am making my own very simple report using an Oracle DB Data Adapter I've made and having trouble. I have no problem getting data from the new adapter and the main report objects I add run fine and the subreport I've added, when run all by itself, runs fine but when I use it in a subreport element on the main report nothing shows up. These are purposely VERY simple reports for the sake of learning - the main report just has a title with a few elements from the dataset feilds on it and the subreport just produces a small list of id's from a table in the same database - that's it. There are no parameters beign passed as none are needed. I also tried using a parameter and passing it from the main to the sub thinking it would somehow "trigger" the subreport to fire off and get data but that did not seem to make any difference. Please help... seems like such a simple thing but this is driving my bonkers trying to get to work. I've done things exactly the same as when doing the tutorial as far as creating a new subrleport file from the wizard after selecting the subreport element, etc. but it just does not seem to work outside of that coffee report tutorial for me. Thanks in advance.
  9. I'm having this same problem inthe latest 6.6.0 community edition as well. It's FRUSTRATING and I can't believe how far back I'm finding posts about this same thing for so many previous version. Why hasn't this been fixed in the *years* that it's been being reported?

I am using 6.6.0 Community Edition and have this issue. I have modified the "jasper Studio.ini" file and replaced the bundled JRE with the one installed on my local PC separately under the "-vm" entry and this at least allowed the dummy "HELLO_WORLD", etc. functions to now work and show up in the expression editor but any new functions I add will NOT show up in the editor. I have simply copy-and-pasted the "HELLO_WORLD" function and gave it a different name to test things out and it will not show and *intially* would not work at all even after rebuilding. Oddly it would not rebuild the class file for the custom library AT ALL when I first started trying to add my own functions unless I modified the dummy ones that are automatically generated by JS. Eventually the new function I added (the renamed "HELLO_WORLD" function that I copied and pasted) *DID* work after a couple of restarts (I can manually enter it as an expression and when running the report it works) but it STILL does not show up in the expression editor. One last tidbit - prior to all of this I had an expression I manually wrote into a text field that I eventually completely removed (text field and all) and for the next few days every time I would start JS it would immediately report errors in the "Problems" tab referencing this non-existent field and expression. Somehow it was holding on to this errant field yet I could NOT find any trace of it within the files on my computer (I literally used a utility to search the text in every file on my system) nor could I find something in the registry either. Something is going on with this thing and apparently has since version 5.6.2 as I've found all kinds of people with the same issue and none with any real answers. I am evaluating this right now as my company is considering moving to Jasper Reports as opposed to Oracle's BI Publisher and if this is what we can expect there is no way I would pay all of the money they charge for the commercial version of this. The fact that this has gone on for so long unaddressed is extremely discouraging.
