It turns out the issue was that thelocation type for the text field was "fix relative to bottom". Once I changed that to either "float" or "Fix relative to top" the problem went away.

Reducing the font size increases the number of characters that the field will display. If the font is reduced to 6pt, 2 lines of text will be displayed, but once there is more than 2 lines worth of text to display, nothing will be displayed. So, it looks like it is not properly handling the "stretch with overflow". I've got a field in a report (notes) that when the number of characters in the field is 92 or less, everything prints out. When the content is greater than 92 characters, nothing prints out. When the content is greater than ~1000 characters, the report hangs. In other reports that display the same field, there are no issues. I've compared the setup for the field in the non-working report versus working reports and have not spotted and differences.

The path: https://sourceforge.net/projects/jasperstudio/files/updatesite/6.3.0/ used in the install new software dialog resulted in : Unable to read repository at https://sourceforge.net/projects/jasperstudio/files/updatesite/6.3.0/site.xml.

This is the path that eclipse attempts to use to get the studio plugin for Eclipse Mars. Is there a different path I should set it to use?
