How to print new rupees symbol(sign: ₹) in Ireport?

First of all I wrote some query in subreport and declared a parameter.Then I opened the main report ,clicked on the subreport and went to the properties and then to the parameters option,declared a parameter exactly having the same name as in subreport.But the problem is the fields are not retrieved automatically when they are supposed to..I cant figure out where the problem is.
