The "select visualization type" shows 'All types', Data Grid, etc., shoosing any of which seems to have no effect on the display of the data. It seems the ability to create an adhoc view that looks and behaves like the old 'Table' option does not exist.

The Table option is not available in the adhoc view creation. Only Crosstab(the default) is available.
