I was having the same problem and this seemed to work for me as well I couldnt find any documentation that mentions this change but it seems to work!

I am having trouble hiding a textfield in the jaspersoft veiwer in the Java mode but showing the textfield in the exported xls output. Is this even possible to do?

I have tried using this same format for excluding a table component column header and it did not seem to work do you know if this same style can be applied to tables?
