  1. So, I went to youtube to look at some of the tutorials and what I found is exactly one of my biggest frustrations. There is either overly basic or complex information. There is nothing in the middle. I know how to build a report (by the way I am using JasperServer). I just can't get it to report out the data I need. Apparently, my vendor is upgrading to the newer version which will help a lot, but we also need better tutorials to help us understand the measures and analytical part of data management. Ugh.
  2. I just logged on here to vent a bit. I have to use jaspersoft and I don't like it. I seriously do not understand it and find it way to difficult to get answers to simple questions. I should state first that I am using Jaspersoft through another vendor who purchased it, so many of the layout decisions may not entirely be jaspersoft's fault. However, my biggest frustration is with the accuracy fo the data and the billions of useless fields that I have to contend with. I run thousands of reports and everyone of them returns the most insane data. For example, I will ask for a count of people and the answer will be 1! One person ... not 22 . . . not 53 but one. Can I get the report to give the correct answer --- ever???? No! Is my vendor at all helpful? no. They all want to send me marketing materials and tell me about the great key points or the most basic functions. "Yes, I know what a field is!" I would like to just like to select time parameters that isn't dependent on some arbitary dating rule that isn't applicable. I should also say that I am not a technical person and so I would like to offer this advice to all programmers: test your products! Ask your babysitters and a group of sexagenarians to try out your products before you launch them because if they cannot use it then you have too many buttons, too many words, and poorly designed graphics which brings me to my next suggestion ... hire a graphics and communications person. Put a team of people between your programers and your customers because most people don't want to try and recall . . "is that the lesser than or the greater than symbol?!" [step off soap box]
